Welcome to the Fundraisers Section!
The band fees cover less than 1/2 the amount needed each year. The Boosters must raise the rest. It's been estimated that it costs about $800 for one student to be in the band for a year (Marching and Wind Ensemble bands). Almost nothing the Band needs or uses is paid for by the school or school system. Band Boosters and band students must raise funds for things such as copies, music, uniforms and school buses for transportation to football games and competitions.
To keep band fees manageable, Band Boosters donate time to fundraisers such as the football concession stand. These projects can't generate income for the Band without many volunteer workers. If every parent participates in the fundraisers during the year, all the jobs will be taken care of. Please attend Band Booster meetings and volunteer. Periodic band emails will also be sent out to notify parents of volunteer opportunities.
There are also student fundraisers available during the year. A portion of the profits, typically 50%, earned by a student working, or friends and family working for a student, in one of the student fundraisers, will go into his/her Student Account. Whenever Band fees or other expenses are due, money will be transferred from his/her Student Account to the Band General Fund, crediting him/her with the money needed for Band Fees, a trip, banquet, etc.

Valentine's Pecans |
|
Schermer Pecans is offering gift pecans with Valentine packaging for the Valentine holiday gift-giving season. This is a wonderful opportunity for our band fundraising efforts.
Schermer is offering:
- Delicious Chocolate Covered Pecans in a beautiful red foil bag with tiny gold hearts and 3 large heart shaped clear windows
- Chocolate Caramel Pecan Clusters are individually wrapped and packaged in a clear cello bag with red hearts
Both of these come with a gift tag for you to address to that someone special!
The Valentine Gift pecans sell for $10.00.
Mary Yerby will take orders for the gifts pecans by e-mail through Friday, February 1st. Let her know how many of each bag you want. She must receive payment from you for the pecans ordered by the delivery date. Checks need to be made out to BJHS band and include a drivers license #. They need to be placed in the band booster box in the band room with Valentine Pecans marked on the envelope. If we do not receive payment then your order will go into the extra pecans to be sold. We have scheduled the pecans to arrive by Friday, February 8th.
These should be easy to sell. It is great chocolate candy, is Valentine wrapped and you already know who your customers are! Also, Mary plans to order extra and give the kids an opportunity to sell them at school to their friends.
In order for you to earn funds for your student band account you need to sell 5+ bags of Valentine pecans. At that point you will receive $4.00 per bag for all of the pecans you sell. Profit earned from all pecan bags sold will benefit the band program.
If you have questions, please contact Mary Yerby by e-mail. The Band Boosters are looking forward to seeing what we can do with this opportunity. The response can be exceptional and we can have a share in this Valentine gift-giving market that can be an annual tradition for the band.

Working Concession Stands |
|
This is the band's most significant fundraiser. Approximately 40 parent volunteers are needed for each Bob Jones home football game. Workers must wear closed toe shoes and a baseball cap or a hairnet will be provided.
Please contact one of the Concessions Co-Chairs to volunteer. |

Pecan Sale |
|
The annual pecan sale is one of our more popular fundraisers. Selling pecans is generally not a problem; people who bought last year are more than happy to buy again in future years! This year, students can earn $1.50 per item they sell. This money will go into their Student Account to be used for trip payments, band fees, etc. This is slightly higher than $50% of the profit. The remainder will go into the Band Boosters account.
We will also be awarding cash to be placed in the Student's Account to the top three sellers.
First place will be $75.00. Second place $50.00. Third place $25.00.
The 2007 Pecan Sale starts in the last week of September and ends in the third week of October. Make checks payable to BJHS Band and include Driver's License # and phone number on the check. No cash please, checks or money orders only. Total all orders and make sure the check/money order matches the amount of pecans ordered. Put check/money order and order forms in a sealed white envelope, write your name and pecan sales on the outside and drop in the pecan order box on Band Booster table by the end of school on 10/17. Pecans will arrive in November.
Please contact Mary Yerby for more information. |
